Today my Flea Market Find is small - but lovely. I am sure all of you regular op-shoppers are aware that buttons in thrift stores have become a hot commodity. I think longingly about the days when a whole jar of buttons could be purchased for a few dollars. They are scarcer and more expensive these days. There are a couple of stores I frequent where the wonderful volunteers stitch buttons onto cards which is just lovely. I try to restrict my button purchases a bit now because I don't really make that much jewellery with them any more - the market is flooded! Every now and then I find some that I just can't resist ...
They are glass buttons the colour of shiny pewter.
The detail in the design is amazing.
They look a bit like faux marquasite.
I have consulted my trust little "button bible" ...
It seems that they were produced between 1940 and 1960. They are in really good nick so I am guessing 1960ish - before I was born at any rate! Now that you have seen my little treasures why not pop over to
Sophie's and see what everyone else has been collecting this week.

Wonderful buttons and where did you get the book?
oh I don't ''collect'' buttons, but I do love to find something unusual. They are gorgeous!♥
They are just lovely! I have a large collection of vintage buttons, some special and some not so special. I used to purchase a lot on ebay but had noticed they are becoming harder to find. Our op shops if they have any buttons usually just have plain old shirt buttons. The glass ones are just divine. Thanks for reminding me I have yet another treasure to share on my blog!
i am so loving the idea that buttons would be sewn onto card again.. there's something about buttons which attracts and repulses me, and finding them selected on cards.. well, it's easier, isn't it?
i do like how YOU have presented your finds with mister somebody here! imaginative, i like.
